Billa 2 which has Ajith in the lead role was released amongst great expectations. So far none of the Ajith's film had such a great opening. The film was screened for 82 times at Mayajal theatre in Chennai.

Billa 2 h as broken the records of Endhiran and Mankatha. People who have seen Billa 2 are giving two kinds of views about this film but it is expected that it will break the records at the box office. The first day collections were Rs 7.61 Crores.
Since the film carries an A certificate, the government tax has to be paid. The film has yielded Rs 7.61 Crores even after deducting the tax. Many are surprised seeing this profit. Aascar Ravichandran who has acquired the Tamil Nadu rights of this film said, "I am very happy that I have released Billa 2. The film is doing very well at the box office. This film has got a fantastic reception in spite of it being released in an ordinary weekend. This film has yielded profits than any other Ajith films released so far."It is understood that in order to promote this film, the production side has decided to add the song Idhayam En Idhayam and making of Billa 2 in the film.
