Pop icon Katy Perry has landed in India for her show on the opening of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) -- and says she is honoured to be within the country. After taking a flight from Tokyo, she tweeted: "After what felt like longest flight ever I'm finally here! Honoured to play Chennai! That is my first performance in India."
The 27-year-old, set to enthrall the audience along with her hits like Fireworks and California Gurls, arrived in Chennai on Monday.
"Almost fell asleep in my curry last night, no joke... Awoke feeling such a lot better after a fresh meditate... feels appropriate being in India," she tweeted on Tuesday.
This isn't the first time the singer is visiting India. She tied the knot with now estranged husband Russell Brand in a standard Hindu marriage ceremony in India in October 2010.
Priyanka to satisfy Katy Perry?
Insiders from Taj Hotel — where Priyanka and Katy might b e staying — inform that arrangements are being made for an elaborate, but informal meeting between Priyanka and Katy.
"While the general itinerary is being kept a whole secret, Taj officials has been informed that the precise details in their meeting and required arrangements might be given just a day in advance," says an insider.
"Priyanka is predicted to speak about her album and experience as a singer with Katy. Of course, Katy's insights will are available in handy," an insider with regards to the actor told Hindustan Times.
Although details are being kept under wraps, the meeting is scheduled to happen either an afternoon before or after the outlet IPL Nite.
"They can't meet on that day, since both can be busy with their acts. And because they don't need a meet-and-greet roughly encounter, it's going to happen either over lunch or dinner," adds the insider.
Although Priyanka remained unavailable for comment, her spokespe rson says, "It's too early to speak about the meeting as things are still being worked out. But since Priyanka is opening the IPL night, she is going to be in Chennai for a few days. As for meeting with Katy, an official announcement may be made soon."
