Twenty-five years ago, a group of Chennai Film Institute students made the scary movie 'Oomai Vizhigal' with Vijayakanth in the lead. It was directed by R. Arvindraj and released on Aug.15, 1986.
Twenty-five years later, a student of the same institute and director of 'Priyamudan', 'Vaattakkudi', 'Eranyanan', 'Youth' and 'Jithan', Vincent Selva along with some fellow students, is making 'Moongil Vizhigal', a film of the same genre as 'Oomai Vizhigal'.
The film is based on a true-life incident that occurred in a tribal village. Some of the inhabitants of the village were killed one by one in a mysterious way. Who the serial killer is and why he should resort to this dastardly crime are the questions on which the film is. Anchored.
The cast has a new young pair. Thambi Ramaiah and Santhanam play important roles. A famous actor is likely to be part of the film.
Srikanth Deva is scoring music. Salim is the cinematographer. Vincent Ashokan and Sasidharan have jointly written the screenplay. The story is by Vincent Selva who directs the film. S.P.M. Murugan and Vetri are the producers. Aabaavaanan has written two songs.
The shooting has started at Chalakudi in Kerala. A dance number by Bollywood actress Alisa Khan was filmed here. It took the unit six days to shoot this dance, according to sources.
