Aravaan Movie Online – Music Review

When the movie Angadi Theru came to the screens many eyebrows were raised over the treatment meted out by the director Vasanthabalan. In addition to the succulent thematic approach, he gave immense significance to the technicalities as well. Thus we had a good collection of songs which had the potential to compete with other albums for awards. Now in this next venture, Aravaan, Vasanthabalan has chosen different cast and the theme is open to guessing.

The songs are out on the air recently and the analysis makes us wonder what could be the outcome of the audience feedback. The songs got the lyrics from the experienced Na.Muthukumar and Viveka. As with the earlier stint, the diction is simple and direct to the hearts. Singer Karthik who is making his debut as a Music director, has bent down his neck to the accurate tunes for the director's choice. It is evident from the orchestration that he has organized a well designed album yet with low profile. The songs are varied with voice renditions and the collection of seven numbers reveal a great effort on Karthik. Here's the analysis of his maiden venture making an all round focus on his musical genes in him.
The cast includes Aadhi, Pasupathy, Archana and Dhanshika. The film comes from Amma Creations.

Kalavuda
Playback : Mano, Pasupathi, Kottaichami, Karunanidhi, Rahul Nambiar, MLR. Karthikeyan, Vijay Narain, Malathi, Harish
This pure rustic song has all the charismatic effect of a group or chorus tone. It seems the director is intended to portray a classy village atmosphere. The host of singers have rendered each other's competing voice modulations. It is a strange effort from ———- to compose such a cluster of voices in a single song. The lyrics are meant for easy repetition and of course, the single listening cannot make us feel the entire song. However, the song opens with a good note and make us tap our lap.

Naagamalai Sanchuidchu
Playback : Gopal, Seerkazhi Sivachidambaram, Narayanan
A simple tune from Karthik in which the lines are rendered with a mellifluous ease and this number speaks a lot for Karthik. He has exhibited the talents which he acquired over the years. It is idealistic to bring in the voice of the old years, Sirkazhi Govindararajan, through his son. The classical tone is elevated when the instrumentation is let open for the right lyrics. One can wonder on what grounds Karthik came to this light even though he is better known for his strong voice. After all the song requires such a treatment. Pat for Karthik.

Nanadakumara
Playback: Subhiksha
Another number from the same voice cluster and this time it is the competitive tone rendition. The tune is wholly novel to listen and the instruments are mingled with least amount of bass to get hold of the set tune. Lyrics are too sketchy about the characters and perhaps the movie may disclose the exact situation. The song runs slow and there could be too minimal effect from the audience.

Nila Nila Poguthae
Playback: Vijay Prakash, Harini
What a mesmerizing combination for a lullaby duet, as Karthik has woven a crafty tune. The voice of Harini stands out compared to that of Vijay Prakash. The lyrics are urbane and yield a handy outpour of emotions. A scintillating tune with essential instrumentation and Karthik has revealed his efficiency of his affinity with great musicians. Kudos to Karthik.

Oore Oore Ennapetha
Playback: Krishnaraj, Mukesh, Periya Karuppu Thevar, Rita, Priya
This number too comes out with a multi faceted voice combinations. Karthik is choosy to depict this song with utmost care for this high pitched song. The lyrics need such an intense rendition though there is no balanced orchestration on the totality of the effect. It is strange to listen the old bass voice of Krishnaraj while other voices are quite new to the listeners. It seems Karthik has tried out his experimentation through this album. This song could have been given more care.

Oruvaan Irruvaan
Playback: Karthik
Here comes the creator's voice and Karthik is solo in his performance. The slight and soft beginning increases to maximized effect as the second stanza proceeds. Normally Karthik has the habit of finishing the song in his own style, but in this song he is confined to the needs of the director. Being the composer himself herein Karthik is so matured and is taken into account for his first time commitment. A great attempt indeed.

Unna Kolla Poren
Playback: MLR. Karthikeyan, Bhavatharani
The paradoxical element of the lyrics get good niche through the tune from Karthik. The voice of Bhavatharini alone is familiar to us and MLR is moderate for this song. The other one, Karthikeyan has more scope but failed to impress. The song is neither a duet nor a family utterance but the lyrics make us feel that it is good for anytime listening. We can infer that this song could better be a least time passer.
Verdict

Though Karthik is not a great composer to have a breath of skill as much as a professional composer, this is a giant step towards his refinement. In all his career span he has the cult to stand alone for his exuberant voice modulation. But as a musician, he is on the cradle singing the lullaby himself. The predecessors like SP. Balasubramanian, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan have tried their mettle with a good opening. And Karthik too got such a fantastic score ground. Let's wish him a wonderful and tremendous career as a musician.
